General Description:

The Director of Technology is responsible for managing, maintaining, and advancing the technology systems that support the daily operations, communications, events, meetings, and member services of the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL). This position oversees website content and functionality, cloud-based productivity tools, databases, automation systems, digitial passes, livestream production, internal networking, office technology, phone systems, and security systems.

The Director of Technology serves as the organization’s primary technology resourse and works closely with SCHSL staff, member schools, vendors, and partners to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations.

Details:

Specific job responsibilities of the Director of Technology include:

  • Maintain and update the website.
  • Post news, announcements, schedules, championship information, forms, directories, and other official information.
  • Maintain the Directory.
  • Develop and improve data management processes and reporting capabilitites.
  • Administer the Google Workspace environment.
  • Manage and automate SCHSL League Passes.
  • Support the digitial pass issuance and management process for eligible users.
  • Produce livestreams for Executive Committee meetings, Appellate Panel hearings, press conferences, and other SCHSL events.
  • Manage streaming productions for NFHS Network and YouTube platforms.
  • Support both in-person and Zoom-originated productions.
  • Maintain and support the internal network infrastructure.
  • Maintain the IP-based telephone system.
  • Maintain and monitor the proper operation of cameras and security-related technology.
  • Manage office computers and end-user technology resourses.
  • Assist with technology needs during meetings, events, and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Commissioner.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Working knowledge of SCHSL rules and regulations. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop, assess and evaluate organizational systems; provide on and off-site technical assistance to athletic departments of member schools. Ability to work with diverse cultures of varying skills, knowledge, and personalities. Strong working knowledge of WordPress website administration and content management. Ability to maintain cloud-based databases. Understanding of networking concepts, including switches, wireless access points, routers, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field.

OR

At least five years of experience in the field.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the SCHSL policy manual.

Salary and Benefits:

This position is full-time as defined by the SCHSL Employee Handbook. The annual salary for the 52-week position will be negotiable depending upon experience and other relevant qualifications. Comprehensive benefits including paid holidays, vacation/sick leave, state retirement, and health insurance coverage are provided.
