Winter Captains’ Course set for Nov. 13
The South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) remains committed to putting our student-athletes first. We are equipping team captains with educational resources designed to foster strong leadership and promote a culture of sportsmanship. The Winter Captains’ Course will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. This session will be tailored to directly address the needs of SCHSL student-athletes. These courses and summits are free for all SCHSL member schools.

Highlights include:
- A mini rules clinic covering expectations for sportsmanship and conduct.
- Discussion of consequences for violations and ways to promote positive attitudes and community engagement
- A leadership presentation from Dr. Garrett Knight on best practices for being an effective team captain.
All students must be registered by their school. Athletic directors are encouraged to register all team captains and organize a designated location (e.g., auditorium or film room) for the student-athletes to attend the session together. This creates a valuable opportunity for team discussion and reflection.
